As Stonemill Farms grows, so does its highly rated onsite school, Liberty Ridge Elementary.
The South Washington County School District has finalized plans for a new addition that will provide learning space to 160 to 180 kindergarteners and 60 to 80 pre-school children at Liberty Ridge Elementary.
Planned to open in the fall of this year, the facility will have eight kindergarten classrooms and two rooms for pre-schoolers. It will also have a cafeteria, a multi-purpose space that can be used for indoor recess, a media center and teacher offices. A playground is also included in the plans.
The new addition will include an existing 10,000-square-foot facility that was already being leased by the school district for kindergarten classes at Liberty Ridge, plus a new 12,500-square-foot expansion.
Called Liberty Ridge Elementary Site II, the new facility is located at the southwest corner of Settlers Ridge Parkway and Eagle View Blvd. Site II is within walking distance of the main Liberty Ridge campus, and will be served by school buses and shuttles. The architecture of Site II will match the attractive Prairie-style design of the main building.
The new facility will help Liberty Ridge Elementary maintain its record of academic excellence while accommodating growth.
In the most recent (2010-2011) Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA) tests for third- and fourth-grade reading and math, Liberty Ridge ranked 32 out of 803 elementary schools in Minnesota. Liberty Ridge is also among the few public elementary schools in Minnesota to receive a distinguished GreatSchools rating of 9 out of 10.
Strong education is one reason why home sales are thriving at Stonemill Farms. New-home sales in the 700-acre community increased 41% in the first quarter of 2012, and it was the top-selling community in Woodbury last year, according to Metrostudy.
